Is it appropriate to keep the name Jasir?
Question:
Would you please inform me the following queries about a name of new born baby.
1. Is it permissible and recommendable to keep a name of a new born boy as “Muhammad Jasir Abrar”?
2. Is it ok in sense of Arabic grammar?
3. What is the exact meaning of this name?
4. What will be the Arabic spelling of the name?
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
- The name Jaasir is permissible to keep for a new born boy.
- Yes.
- Jaasir comes from root letters ج س ر which means to “to venture, to span, traverse”. The word جاسر is the active doer of the above action. In context it could refer to someone who take a bold step and traverse forward. Contextually it may refer to someone who is courageous. [i]
- The spelling will be more appropriate as “Jaasir” and the Arabic would be “جاسر ”
The complete name Muhammad Jaasir Abraar will be written in arabic as “محمد جاسر ابرار ”
And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
