Question:

Parents is very important as described in Quran and deserve our love and respect. My parents are coming from India after this corona lock down on 13th may. And they need to be in isolation for 14 days medically to know the symptom of corona..actually they don’t stay with me in Mississauga but I need to go and meet them at their place in Oshawa (they live there with my other sibling)

I have small kids of age 9 month and 5 years , Eid is coming too. I want to meet them after 14 day of there isolation to save my family from Corona spread.

I am feeling bad and scared from Allah that if he dislike my action with parents….(although we planning to go to them after isolation period and stay there for couple of days and before that they will be on video call to make them happy)… plz advice me should I do to meet them before isolation..

Bismillahi Ta’ala

Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabrakatuh,

It is a blessing that Allah has instilled into your heart that you have such love and respect for your parents. Just as your love and respect for your parent is visible in your words, your worry is equally good. Alhamdulillah.

In the current circumstances it is vital that you take all measures to not only protect your family, but also your parents as well. Seniors are more prone to catch a virus while younger individuals may not even display the symptoms while having Covid-19 due to better immune system.

So it is important for you to maintain the mandatory isolation and thereafter meet them with due precautions.

Allah has brought these conditions and is well aware of our shortcomings. These days are days of introspection and making rujoo’ (return) towards Allah.

If you can manage to stay without them for the period of isolation, then that is what you should do. If meeting them seems to be a necessity, then meet them from behind glass to maintain your social distance. In no way break the legal guidelines of mandatory isolation.

May Allah ease your matters, and May He relieve the entire world from this pandemic, Ameen.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,

Wassalamu `alaykum,

Mufti Faisal al-Mahmudi
